Our excursion starts from Cocolicchio, a small town in the heart of the Itria Valley, close to the Canale di Pirro. It is probably the oldest settlement of trulli, perhaps even older than the much more famous Alberobello: an unexplored and unique place to discover our Puglia together! This is the starting point for a pleasant ring-route along ancient roads and sheep tracks, until it crosses the route of the Apulian Aqueduct Cycle Route. This is one of the most scenic parts of the route, with some of the most impressive stone bridges along the entire aqueduct. About halfway along the route we pass through San Marco, one of the typical districts of the Itria Valley, where a large church with a unique trullo dome stands out! Finally, we return to Cocolicchio, in an almost fairytale landscape of oak woods and dry stone walls.
